The Stonington Gallery

The Stonington Gallery in Pioneer Square is another of my favorite Seattle stops.

Back in the art buying days I spent quite a bit of time with the experts at Stonington Gallery who educated me and helped add to our corporate collection.

They were at the other end of town back then but are now just around the corner from my First Monday meeting that takes place at FX McCrory's, so I stop by a few times a year.

Stonington has a wonderful variety of Northwest Native American art ranging from carvings to glass to jewelry; traditional to contemporary, mostly fairly high end. It is worth the trip just to enjoy browsing.
A while ago I had to have my wedding rings cut off.

I had gained some weight and when I fell and sprained several fingers there just wasn't much room for the fingers to expand and something had to give. The rings lost.

There's a reason I mention the ring story. On one of my stops at Stonington I found a ring that I liked and it fit perfectly. My fingers had healed and the swelling was gone so I bought it as my new wedding band. Jim was happy because I was happy.

Don't miss going upstairs where you'll find more art and the works of Nancy Taylor Stonington.

My serious art buying days are over but I always enjoy stopping by and occasionally find a piece of jewelry or other item I can't resist.

They describe themselves this way:

Stonington Gallery exhibits an exciting collection of contemporary masterworks from the Pacific Northwest and Alaska. Serving Seattle since 1979, the gallery is respected for the depth and quality of its collection, exceptional service and knowledgeable staff.

Located in historic Pioneer Square at 119 South Jackson Street the gallery is part of Seattle's traditional art district, offering three floors of outstanding masterworks. Stonington has
become an invaluable resource for collectors worldwide, showcasing the best artists of Northwest Coast and Alaskan art.
